My Indian Baby Shower...

Friday, 4th Feb 2011, 7pm onwards…

Lovely mom & dad (the grandparents for the 5th time) arranged for my baby shower. The ceremony is usually to bless the mom-to-be whose pregnant for the 1st time and to give good vibes to the baby in the womb by putting on glass bangles for the mom-to-be.

Any functions in the house are usually attended by all our family members and close family friends; my baby shower wasn’t an exception. I had my aunts, uncles and cousins came down all the way from Perak just to attend my baby shower and Thanusha’s (Subha’s baby) naming ceremony the next day. Aunts and cousins who stays around KL came early on Friday to help on the preparations like decorating the oil lamps, wrapping the trays to give off to the married ladies who takes part in the ceremony, arranging fruits and flowers, etc. What else could make a mom-to-be happier than seeing everyone coming together to celebrate the event although it was a very simple one.

Joshi came early Thursday to draw henna. Although she had a busy schedule, she still took all the effort to get it done for me. What are sisters for after all! We chose a very simple yet a contemporary design. Got her a cup of coffee and we started off drawing while chatting (which is what we r good at all the time =)).

My paternal aunt got me all dressed up for the ceremony as per my sisters and mom’s requirements. They all wanted me to plait my hair long, put on lots of flowers and look like a bride on that day just because I did not have that look on my wedding day.

The ceremony started at 7p.m., everyone was there camwhoring and the whole atmosphere was noisy with the kids running around, everyone chit chatting and laughing away….

Dharma was told to start by breaking the coconut as a sign that the whole ceremony is about to begin; Followed by us being blessed by both our parents.

My mom was the 1st one to put on the bangles for me followed by the rest of them.

Once the bangles ceremony is over, I was told to open up one of the 3 parcels of rice which predicts my baby’s gender the Indian way. I happen to open the yogurt rice and got everyone confused! Now, they say it could be a girl or a boy… hmmmm….. I’m keeping my options open! :D

After the whole ceremony finished, dinner was served. AND….. the usual drama started by my two lovely brother in-laws by drawing ‘kolam’ on everyone’s faces using sandal paste! As usual, Ani amma was the 1st victim followed by the rest of them…

I am not sure if my baby felt the actual vibe… but as a mom-to-be, I was the happiest woman on earth on that day! Family is all about coming together and celebrating an event by forgetting all the misunderstandings you would have had previously and be happy! In that way, I should always be thankful to the god for giving me such wonderful parents, husband, sisters and everyone else in my family!

Now… all that is left is the arrival of our baby in March!!

Destiny...

Its been 5 wonderful years! Time surely flies... and everything that happened back on 25th January 2006 is still fresh in our minds!!

KLCC, Parkson, Chinoz, that cup of cappuccino, the long talk, the smile, the laughter, the well behaved stop @ Gasing hill, the drop off, bidding goodbye and good night and the whole phone conversation till 6am after a 5 hour date!

although life today has became so bz and hectic, we never fail to remember this date in the calendar which reminds us to recall back our 1st date and smile about everything that happened on that day!

We got to admit that these 5 years of relationship wasn't a bed of roses for us and we have seen the worse within a short period of time. But..... We manage to cross over all that painful moments and rough patches in our lives and still moving on with so much love and no regrets!

Who on earth would want to get on a 1st date with a girl and ask her hand in marriage on the very same day???? Well.... my husband did! The first reason he gave me to ask me out for a date was to know better about me cse he wanted to marry me knowing nothing about me! I was left speechless when he said that but couldn't explain the amount of happiness in me at that very moment (of course i had an eye on him too!).

Two and a half years of courtship was like the best thing ever! Going places to sneaking out of town for a quick holiday and all the lies for long holidays.... Hmmmmm.... it was so much fun! All those most romantic moments are still as fresh as ever! Makes us feel young and new whenever we think and talk about it. Bukit Tinggi, PD, Penang, Cherating, Perhentian, Genting are the few places we went on a romantic & fun getaway!!  And not forgetting India for our wedding shopping....

The few of the many photos during our dating days...

Life after marriage was bliss! Everything felt perfect! Its nothing like being married to the love of your life and brag about it forever and ever! Moved into a beautiful home and spending each and every night together feeling like 'this is the moment we both have been waiting for!'. The best part is, we don't have to lie or be answerable to anyone for where we wanna go. All it needs is, get the leave, pack our bags n off we go! Cherating, Perhentian (yes, again to rekindle memories), Malacca, Phuket, Cameron Highlands, Penang, Langkawi, Singapore and many more places. Not to deny that PD and Malacca was the most visited ones!! Although we are married today and as they say, so many responsibilities to carry out, we are still the same or should i say closer now.

Awesome moments after marriage...

The whole relationship feels as new as ever with so much love and care! we still kiss goodbye every morning and welcome home every evening... we still hug and kiss good night every single night without fail! We still laugh, tease, joke and talk about our early days of courtship and laugh like crazy nuts about it!

Today.... it’s been 5 years since we've known one another! Life has changed a lot today and the love for one another got stronger by day. We are confident enough that we will be saying the same thing even after another 5 years with one or two kids running around us! At that time, we call it a family!
